Dr. Lianghui Ji

Dr. Ji got his first degree in 1984 in China before joining China National Rice Research Institute. He obtained his Ph.D at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He moved to Singapore in 1997 to work on plant-virus interaction and subsequently on functional genomics of Ustilago maydis. He joined TLL in 2003 starting as a research associate to work on cotton transformation and plant somatic embryogenesis. He is currently an Associate Director of the Strategic Research Program with broad interests in biomaterials and biocatalysts fields. His interests in Jatropha curcas include improvement of agronomical traits through genetic engineering as well as utilization of Jatropha by-products.
Dr Ji will share with you the potential and challenges to efficiently convert biomass generated from crude jatropha oil production into biofuel.
