Dr. Gen Hua Yue
Molecular Population Genetics Group, Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, Singapore
Dr. Yue got his Ph.D at the University Hohenheim, Germany in 1999. He has been working on genetic markers and marker-assisted breeding since 1994. His research work on jatropha at the Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory includes development of DNA markers (mtDNA, microsatellites and SNPs) and their applications for rapid and cost-effective genotyping of genetic stocks as well as construction of high density linkage map for genome-wide search for major quantitative trait loci (QTL) determining important agronomical traits, such as oil yield, oil quality, pest resistance.
He will share with you his first generation linkage map of Jatropha curcas with 219 microsatellites and over 200 SNPs and detail how this map will empower the search for more productive jatropha varieties.
