At the start of his career, Dr. Varisai Mohamed obtained his Ph.D. from Bharathidasan University in 2000. He spent one and a half years as a Research Associate in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. He carried out his Post-doctoral research at Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) from 2002-2005. Following his post-doctoral research, he had been associated with one of the star venture biotech industry, Vitrosys Inc., South Korea as a scientist, to further his experience on functional mushrooms, Korean Mountain Ginseng using bioreactors. Currently, he is involved in in vitro propagation of Jatropha curcas L. in a view of bio-energy at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory.
